hi. how are you? i'm tuckered out. 6 bands in 2 nights... let's sum up, shall we?

russian futurists ~ i liked, but didn't love, their cds and i felt the same about their live show. it didn't really hold my attention, with the exception of precious metals. and, i'm sorry, but the first of 3 opening bands should never do an encore. especially when their performance had such a lackluster reception.
junior boys ~ produced one of my favourite albums of 2004, last exit, and didn't disappoint me with their live show. i could've done with less new stuff, and more of the old familiar, but hey... i'm open to change. they played bellona and birthday, so i was happy.
caribou ~ absolutely insane. how did dan snaith manage to play 5 instruments in 1 song?! if he hadn't gone on after midnight (pointed look in your direction, rock crew chris), i would've been able to stay for his whole set, but alas.

final fantasy ~ owen pallett... you are a GENIUS. this is the dream of win and regine always gives me the chills, and i can't imagine liking songs about magic & role playing games performed by anyone else. i also have to give kudos for the best cover of mariah carey's fantasy ever performed, featuring gentleman reg on vocals (yay reg!!) and regine butler with a hand drum. again... GENIUS.
wolf parade ~ shamefully, i don't have a lot to say about wolf parade. they were good, but i'd like to see these guys again when they are not sandwiched between FF and AF... for me they were a bit overshadowed on both sides.
arcade fire ~ ok, ok. kicked my ass HARD. i liked their album, but if you don't LOVE arcade fire these days, you are labelled as a heretic. i'm not changing my tune on the album, but it it just doesn't do justice to their live show. only show i've ever seen where the band (ok, win) had to ask the audience to stop clapping, because he felt it was "rushing the song". the ultimate moment was the stage invasion during the encore song, wake up. here's a pic, courtesy of chromewaves, since words cannot do justice...

oh, right... i have to work now.
