all hands on deck!

as i sat drinking wine & playing trivial pursuit tonight with le r., my building's fire alarm went off for the first time ever (actually, the first time it'd happened to me ever). we kind of milled about for a while & turned on the tv channel that shows the front door to see if there was a mass evacuation of singed people that we should join. after a few minutes, we sort of figured, ok we might was well go down. better safe than sorry, and all that jazz, right? now keep in mind, i didn't really feel panicked or have a sense i would never return, but this is what i ended up bringing:
~ my bag (which already contained wallet, cell phone & digicam, as per usual), and
~ my laptop

what i didn't bring:
~ my ipod (holy hell!!),
~ my cat (i don't have a carry case! i think this means i need to buy one...), or
~ my roomate's coat (who was in the laundry room at the time. brrr...)

on the way down the stairs, we ran into a girl who was shocked that we hadn't taken the time to pack overnight bags... just in case we couldn't return. i mean, really, how common is that?! one last bit of info - the disruption broke my concentration & cost my the pink pie piece i was poised to claim. boooo.

if you want to read an interesting post about music, you should read rob's account of our weekend. i mean, i could write the same thing as him, but then you'd be deprived of reading about my spine chilling monday night. and that would be a shame.
