(as i'm flipping channels the other night and end up on a repeat of the once popular show, queer eye for the straight guy)

me: whatever happened to the insane marketing campaign of shows about gay men?
rob: it's like australia in the 1980's
me: ... pardon?
rob: you know, crocodile dundee, yahoo serious... the market just got saturated.
me: so, gay men were to 2004 as australia was to the mid-80's? i can get behind that.

i submit that this phenomenon is called "going australia". other things i see as being on the verge of going australia:

• wolf bands
• law & order / csi spin-offs
• buddy holly-esque glasses
