the garbage palace

i've been obsessed lately with re-enacting tlc television programs in real life (as some of you may be aware).  i've spent the last 2 days at my parents house in trenton prepping for my thesis defense (tomorrow a.m., eeek!), and OH MY GOD.  this house is in desperate need of clean sweep.  i've identified three major causes for the ever increasing piles of junk (and i do mean junk).
  1. i think my mom is addicted to shopping.  sounds like an inexhaustible source of clothes, etc. for me, right?  wrong.  the last time i was here she bought me twelve (12!!!) bottles of laundry detergent.  ok, i am quite the neatnik (in protest of my parents filthitude, i think), but get serious.
  2. in addition to being a shopaholic, she is also a total packrack.  example: in the door of the fridge there is a jar of maraschino cherries that is in all sincerity older than me.  it was purchased at a&p, and has the really old orange and red label.
  3. their house is HUGE!!  three floors, 15 rooms.  it is big beyond all reason for 2 people.  all the more space to jam crap into nooks and crannies.

i've informed my mom of my intention to do a clean sweep-esque intervention... any aspiring designers or carpenters can apply directly to me.  i am (obvi) the organizational gal.  actually, i may handle carpentry as well... but if you are cute, please apply regardless!!

ps.  i hate dial-up internet!!!  where am i?!  calcutta?!

Apparently there IS a pack rack that's a rack for napsacks.

In my search, I also discovered this song called Packrack with really bizarre lyrics that needs to be read to be fully appreciated. German translation or not, I really don't get it.
