i'm sorry, could you please speak up?
last night i went to see girl with a pearl earring and, while it didn't really have any plot twists, it was a really good, entertaining movie. plus, all the pent-up sexual frustration of the relationship between the two main characters in the late 17th century made it really hot!! my enjoyment wasn't even dimmed by the master of the obvious sitting behind us. example: in the first minute of the movie, you meet griet's father... who is scarred & missing fingers & very obviously blind. the guy behind us to his friend (in a normal speaking voice): "he's blind.", 30 seconds later: "it happened in an accident.". sigh. thank you for those (and all of the subsequent) insightful comments.
this discussion where none was required has inspired me to make a list of 5 movies i've seen in the past few months that have generated really good discussion... after the movie, of course.
1. donnie darko
2. eternal sunshine of the spotless mind
3. swimming pool
4. my life without me
5. owning mahowny
