grey skies are clearing up
blanket statement: 2007 has really sucked incredible amounts of ass so far.
however, as the sands of time have refused to advance to 2008 based on my personal timetable, it looks as though i have about 6 months to power through until i can truly kiss this year good-bye. but, you know, if i'm going to be really honest.... things are pretty good right now. let's take a quick look:
- the lifestyle changes i made about 6 months ago have become so integrated that they no longer feel like changes. i've dropped about 25 pounds so far, and feel fantastic! i can actually run (up stairs, even) & fit into size 7 pants. plus, my trainer tells me i am "perfectly proportioned" and that my fitness levels are above average. super rad!
- i have a lot of really great friends. like.... REALLY great. i have a lot to be thankful for.
- if all goes according to plan, i'll be heading off to parts unknown for 4 months in the fall to do an international placement. fingers crossed for delhi (no jinx). fingers decidedly not crossed for nigeria. i have high hopes that i'll return enlightened and possessing super yogic powers (like handstands or something).
- my once rampant anxiety has subsided considerably. there are even nights now that i can sleep. it's delicious beyond belief.
- i'm off to ottawa for a long weekend on saturday where i'll get to see some very very dear friends. can't wait!
- other potential summer trips: montreal, nyc, canoeing. my bank account is raising an eyebrow at all of the trips, but my bank account can kiss my ass!
the past few months have been all about evaluation and change and acceptance. it all kind of came together when i was talking to a friend earlier this week. she said to me: "the life you thought you had is over. really and truly over. the decision you have to make now is to hold on or let go."
so, i let go.
i think it'll be okay.
